noun. A fundamental change made to a way of doing something.
READJUST
There comes a time – with most things – that a change is needed. Be that as small as the batteries in the remote, as big as a person’s job, or as inconsequential as a personal blog about Magic: the Gathering. In the last month, I’ve done all three of these things.
I won’t go into the details of the remote, or job issue here. Here we talk about this blog, and why it needed a change. A reset.
RECONFIGURE
The old version of this blog was messy. There was little consistency in the standard of the writing, no rhyme or reason to what I wrote about. And to an extent, that’s expected. It’s the “scrambled thoughts of Dingus Egg” for a reason.
I’m not paid for this, I’m not held to a schedule, or need to write to hit metrics. It’s for the joy of writing about the game that has brought me immense joy for almost two decades, and friendships when I didn’t feel I had any.
And that’s what I want to return to, that joy for all the parts of the game I enjoy (sorry fans of Modern… and Green cards!)
REARRAGE
So going forward, this blog will focus on three keys areas of the game;
- EDH Chromatic Project Deck Reviews
- Custom Card and Set Design
- MTG Philosophy Think Pieces.
No more reactionary posts, that isn’t joy. It’s a sharp part of the game I don’t want to engage with anymore. If you want that, there’s 100s of people who’ll give you reactionary anger at a strategy card game.
RESTART
I’m not going to set out a schedule for when posts will be well… posted. That’s a commitment I’m not willing to make to myself, or anyone who is even interested in reading my thoughts.
What I will commit to is well thought out posts, written with a clarity of thought, and a focus on things I enjoy talking about.
It’s Dingus Egg. Renewed.
Thank you for reading.
